Co-parent relational therapy

Co-parenting is hard work. And doing it well does not mean you need to like each other, agree about everything, or repair the relationship you had before.

Whether you are separating, already divorced, or trying to find your footing in a blended family, the goal is to create a way of parenting that works in real life and protects your children from unnecessary conflict.

I help parents understand what keeps going wrong, interrupt the cycle, and build a more reliable way forward.

See your co-parent through the heart of your children

This is one of the most important ideas I bring to co-parenting work.

You may be angry. You may feel betrayed, undermined, or exhausted. Your feelings are real. But your children should not have to carry the weight of what happened between their parents.

When we can shift the focus from “What did they do to me?” to “What does my child need from me right now?”, different choices become possible.

Who benefits

  • Parents separating or recently divorced who want stability for their children

  • Co-parents struggling with communication, inconsistency, or power struggles

  • Families navigating new partners, blended household logistics, or boundary issues

  • Parents who want to reduce conflict during high-stress transitions (moves, school changes, remarriage)

Common challenges I address

  • “We can’t agree on a schedule.” — I’ll help you design a realistic plan you can both keep.

  • “Every handoff turns into an argument.” — We’ll create scripts and strategies to make transitions neutral.

  • “I feel undermined by new partners or inconsistent rules.” — We’ll set clear roles and consistent expectations.

  • “I don’t trust them to follow through.” — We’ll build accountability and contingency plans that protect your child.

The goal is not perfect co-parenting. It is a workable relationship that gives your children more stability, less conflict, and room to simply be kids.

What we’ll work on

We may work on communication, schedules, transitions, holidays, boundaries, new partners, inconsistent rules, power struggles, or high-conflict exchanges.

I am practical and direct in this work. I may help you create communication scripts, rehearse difficult conversations, establish clearer boundaries, or build systems that make everyday parenting decisions easier.

Depending on the situation, sessions may include both parents, individual coaching, or a combination.

You do not have to become friends.

You do need a way to function as parents.
